Product Rich Snippets, Spark Toro Crowdsourcing QA, Gift Keywords, And Emoji Bugs in GSC
Google has made a change to the rich result reports for product structured data on December 28, 2021. This means that it is viewable in Google Search Console and may lead to different numbers of entities than before this update was implemented- which could affect your rankings!
A nice tip from Dan Shure about finding gift keywords which saw a lot of visibility in 2020 and 2021. Adding adjectives like “funny” or “unique” came up with a lot of new mid & long tail keywords opportunities.

If you were getting a Search Console Emoji Alert, it was a Google bug, so you can ignore it as confirmed by John Mueller on reddit.

SparkToro has a new homepage - Rand asked if anyone has 2 minutes to look at it and let him know any mistakes / issues. If you don’t have enough budget for a QA department, this is a great example of how you can get a lot of people looking at something and giving solid feedback.
Good morning and happy Friday. Welcome to the opinionated SEO, where we talk about recent news and updates in the digital marketing world of SEO paid advertising and social media that impact you as a marketer. Also throw in some of my opinion into the mix. So let's go We're going to go ahead and keep this one a little bit short today. Only four stories. Google made a change to the rich results reports or product structured data. Just a couple of days ago. This means that in search console, you may see some more errors or issues. Really what they're doing is just defining things a little bit better. And we've been seeing this a lot over the last. Six 12 months where we're seeing more and more definition between different issues that might be going on with your sites. You could better attack them instead of a general error. The article doesn't get too detailed into there, but this is going to really make a big difference for those folks that have products or e-commerce go ahead and take a look. You might see a lot more data for you to. act on. There was a nice tip from Dan Shure about finding gift keywords. So this was something that he noted had a lot more visibility in 2020 and 2021 that you can help as you're doing your keyword research, especially adding adjectives, like funny or unique, they came up with a lot of new, mid and long tail keyword opportunities. Definitely take a look at that and see some examples that again, If you were getting a search console, emoji alert, it was actually a Google bug. So you can ignore it. That was confirmed by John Mueller on Reddit. Spark Toro has a new homepage. Rand actually tweeted and asked if anyone has two minutes to look at it, let them know any mistakes or issues. I think this is actually a really great one to take a look at there's I think 20, 30, maybe 40 people who responded with the issues. They had, comments, feedback, things like that. Really, a great Way of doing things. If you don't have enough budget for R say a QA department, it's a really great example of how you can get a lot of people looking at something, giving a lot of feedback without having to spend a whole lot of money. And that's it for us. Have a happy new year and we'll see you on Monday.
